Twenty-first nomination for Meryl Streep

The American actress Meryl Streep has her 21st Oscar nomination for bite, for the best female actress for her role in ‘The Post’. She retains so with a big lead the record of most nominations for a single person. Jack Nicholson and Katharine Hepburn, to follow at a proper distance, with 12 nominations.

Streep could until now, three of her nominations redeem: who of best female supporting actress for ‘Kramer vs. Kramer (1980), and that of best actress for ‘Sophie’s choice’ (1983) and ‘The Iron Lady’ (2012). Katharine Hepburn was four times nominated for best actress cashing.

‘The Post’ Steven Spielberg, Streep and Tom Hanks in the lead roles, has only twice been nominated for the Oscars (best film and best actress) and belongs therefore not to the big contenders.

The film tells the story of the publication of the Pentagon Papers in 1971. Streep and Hanks play the editor-in-chief and editor of the newspaper The Washington Post, who must decide whether they are the documents that prove that the Pentagon, the American population is systematically voorloog about the impact of the war in Vietnam, to bring out after the government to the New York Times had forbidden to the documents from Daniel Ellsberg to publish.
