Davis Cup captain Johan Van Herck has Tuesday his selection published for the first round of the Davis Cup against Hungary (2-4 February), in the Country Hall in Liège. Spearhead David Goffin (ATP 7) in the four players, as Ruben Bemelmans (ATP 117), Joris De Loore (ATP 314) and debutant Julien Cagnina (ATP 264). Arthur De Greef (ATP 189), and Kimmer Coppejans (ATP 277) cancelled, just as the injured Steve Darcis (ATP 88).

In comparison with the final of the Davis Cup last year, against France (24-26 november), only Steve Darcis replaced by Cagnina. For Cagnina, a 23-year-old Liège, his first selection.

“With 2018 start a new year with new opportunities, also in Davis Cup”, explained captain Johan Van Herck. “We will continue in the coming campaign relying on the same values: trust in our qualities, team spirit and big ambitions, but with respect for the opponent. The experience that the players and the staff the past few years have built, help us again to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup. We can count on 4 motivated players, and also on Steve Darcis that a whole week will stand the team. Finally, we rely on the support of the Belgian public to keep us in Liège to the victory scream.”
