BC Oostende is with nine other clubs included in the first clubraad (Club Council) of the Champions League.
Chairman Johan Verborgh represented BC Oostende on the stichtingsvergadering in the House of Basketball in Geneva, switzerland. The selection of the clubs was made on the basis of their regularity in the Champions League and their exceptional results in the national competitions. It is intended that this council of the organization of the Champions League on key issues will be improve. Also, discuss with the members the future landscape of the European club competitions. “The Champions League is a competition of and by the clubs. I am glad that the board of directors this clubraad has created. So we can even more with the opinions of the clubs into account,” observes Patrick Comninos, CEO of the Basketball Champions League.
The other nine members are: AEK Athens (Greece), Besiktas Istanbul (Turkey), Nymburk (Czech republic), Oldenburg (Germany), Tenerife (Spain), Neptunas Klaipeda (Lithuania), Strasbourg (France), Zielona Gora (Poland) and Venice (Italy).
