Planning Ahead For Summer

img 1544 - Planning Ahead For Summer

With summer just around the corner I thought it was time to list off a few “Great Summer Trips” that you should be marking on your calender.

2008 PDGA Professional & Amateur Disc Golf World Championship (August 8-16) Kalamazoo & Battle Creek, MI

This event should be a great time for someone looking for a fun time outdoors.  It is sponsored by Bells Brewing Company so there should be plenty of great beer to be had.  I just started Disc Golfing recently and now I am hooked, and this event would be a great introduction to a fun, affordable summertime activity for anyone.

Red Bull Flugtag USA Chicago – Sept 6th, Portland – Aug 2nd, Tampa Bay – July 19th

I was really bummed to find out that I missed this event here in Nashville last year, but I could make up for it with a trip to Florida this year.  Who wouldn’t want to watch people launch their home made flying machines off of a ramp, only to see them plummet to a watery grave?  I think half the fun would be to enter a flying machine, but give me a 6 pk and a sunny day, and this is a sure fire hit.

Go See A New York Yankees Home Game (Now through September 21st)  New York City

I know it is a little weird to see an avid Yankee hater like me promoting an outing to the Big Apple, but I can’t argue with the fact that it is a piece of history, and that this is the Yank’s last season in this stadium which first opened in 1923.  So suck it up and go check out a historic landmark before it is closed for good.

Pitchfork Music Festival (July 18-20)   Chicago, IL

I for one am not a huge fan of music festivals because of the massive crowds, but this one is hard to pass up with the knock out band line up.  Including some of my favorite groups:  Animal Collective, Vampire Weekend, Dinosaur Jr., Public Enemy, El Guincho, Cut Copy as well as many many more acts.  How could you miss this?
